Engagement

Is it possible for people to overflow with joy? If you’re Sharan and Sunny, then the answer is yes! Sharan looked stunning in her red and white rose sari, and Sunny was so smitten with love that it radiated from his face the entire day.

It’s not often that you meet someone for the first time, but yet, it feels like you’ve known them for years. Everything felt so comfortable with these two. We shared stories about growing up, and told jokes the entire time. Their happiness was so contagious and inspiring that I talked about it with Jasmine the entire drive home. At one point, I asked Sharan, “Okay, let’s try for a serious look.” She tried not to smile, in fact she was soooooo close, and then- BAM! SMILE! 🙂  That’s when she looked at me and said, “I can’t not smile!”

Awesome! LOVE IT!

There are certain personalities that inspire you and fill you with joy, you know, the warm-bubbly-type-of-joy, and these two have it. They are meant for each other. You can actually feel it when you’re with them- the feeling that God couldn’t have arranged it any other way. I’m so happy for Sunny, and for Sharan, because they have something special. Their light-hearted approach to life will help them grow together, while their delight encourages those around them.

We explored a beautiful part of Washington State, one that I had never experienced. Sunny grew up in Snoqualmie and took us to the most breathtaking and magnificent places. The mountains created a picturesque background so beautiful that it felt like we were standing in a Bob Ross painting. The Snoqualmie River was powerful and humbling as we walked along the bank, and I couldn’t help but think (and probably said it a million times) “This is perfect.”

Thank you both for such a wonderful time, and I hope these pictures bring you memories for years to come!

I loved the interaction between Sharan and Sunny. They didn’t just say they were in love, they showed it…. in the way they held hands, the way Sunny helped her walk through rough terrain. You could feel their connection when they looked at each other, and when they spoke to each other. You could see Sunny’s affection for Sharan when he was teaching her how to skip a rock.  The way Sharan looks at Sunny is priceless, her expressions are 10,000 words!  Their love was so natural as it flowed effortlessly between them.

It started 6 years ago at an engagement party, where Karen and Mick first met each other. They both felt a spark as they talked to each other…. and then when they returned to their hometowns, Karen ‘myspaced‘ Mick (it was cool back then). As they sent messages back and forth, their friendship began to blossom and they became more and more interested in each other.  By the time they met again, they had developed crushes on each other, and now, almost 6 years later, they’re engaged!!!

Mick and Karen are both CPA’s with such joyful personalities. I couldn’t help but smile while processing their photos. Their sense of happiness, and close connection with each other, jumps out of every picture.  We wanted to incorporate their professional lifestyle into these photos, as well as their casual, fun personalities.  Who said CPA’s can’t have fun?!

After almost 4 years of being in a long distance relationship, Mick and Karen are one step closer to being married!! There’s something special to be said about building a relationship slowly, after all, the most wondrous of creations aren’t built in an instant, but rather over time. Mick and Karen’s relationship is the same way. After many visits and countless hours together, they have become SO head-over-heals that even long-distance can’t stop them!  You guys are awesome!! You have such amazing energy together, and I’m so happy for you! Long distance can be a challenge, but you guys were strong and overcame those hurdles thereby making your relationship so much stronger.

Alrighty, well, here are their engagement photos taken at Pike Place Market in Seattle. We had an awesome time walking around downtown Seattle, through Post Alley, and along the waterfront.

Two young professionals in love!

It was a beautiful day on the Seattle Waterfront. The sun was shining, the weather was warm, and the water was perfect. From the pier, we could sea Qwest Field and Mount Rainier! It was such a great view.  Mick and Karen are so natural and comfortable together and it shows in the pictures.  They have a very deep love for each other.

Sometimes you never know who you’ll meet, or where you’ll meet them- but doesn’t life always find a way to make things happen? It’s easy to see how perfectly everything works out when you step back to trace the chain of events that led you to today.

I really enjoyed listening to Jasmine tell me the story about how she met Paul. Here’s the brief version describing how one event led to another… Jasmine had just returned to Seattle after finishing school in New York City. Paul met her one day and decided to give his phone number. Jasmine, not sure if she should call him, decided to wait. Why do girls always do that?! 🙂 Well, one day, when curiosity got the better of her, she called him, and they began talking on the phone…..for 8 hours! What?! In fact, every phone call during the first week lasted at least 6 hours until finally, they said it’s time to meet in person! Destiny was quickly revealing itself to them…..

….and now, here we are, at Alki Beach in Seattle taking engagement photos. Jasmine and Paul make such a wonderful couple together and I’m so happy for both of them. These engagement photos, taken at Alki Beach in West Seattle, are just a small glimpse of how happy they make each other.

When I sat down with Erin and James, their love for each other shined through immediately. As Erin told me, “not to mention we’re crazy about each other and our chemistry is so perfect it could only be God-designed!”  And that’s so true!  As we talked, I found out that Erin learned to operate their family’s classic wooden tugboat by the age of 5, and she also worked as a deckhand from a young age. James grew up in the rural, pristine, mountain countryside of British Columbia where he discovered his passion for missions trips and helping others. We chose to shoot the engagement photo’s on the “David B” in Bellingham, WA. The owners of the “David B” were so kind, and allowed us to do the photoshoot on their beautiful boat. My good friend, Katie, also helped tremendously with the outfits and photoshoot coordination. Thanks to everyone for a great time, and best wishes to Erin & James as they sail upon a lifelong journey together!
